FAMILY!

Amanda’s family: WOW! What a roller coaster ride this week-end. Our daughter Amanda in Battle Ground, WA. called late Saturday afternoon to say they were taking our granddaughter Ashley by ambulance to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, OR. from Kaiser Permanente’s Vancouver urgency care clinic. Kaiser suspected she was diabetic. Earlier she was listed in critical condition in the ICU unit, but as of this morning she had shown considerable improvement. Doernbecher’s diagnosis is Type I Diabetes and she will now be insulin dependent. Thankfully she is feeling better, and looking better according to Amanda’s last phone call. They are meeting today with a specialist and all the follow-up that comes with the nutrition and diet changes that will now come for a 13 year-old. Ashley had been feeling lousy the last few days, and yesterday morning she complained of being dizzy – hence the trip to the urgency care clinic. We are on the ‘up-swing’ now! YAHOO! Wade’s family: Two things to mention! Wade will be switching employers April 1st. He recently seized another sales opportunity in the medical field, this one with a company called "superDimension." He is stepping away from the cardiovascular field and has moved on to the clinical science surrounding the diagnosis of distal lung disease. The technology that he will be selling allows for the earlier diagnosis of the differing types of lung disease, to include cancer, tuberculosis, and emphysema. His primary customer support base will include cardiothoracic surgeons, interventional pulmonologists, and radiation oncologists. While his territory will grow in geography, the compensation package and opportunity for advancement will supersede anything his former company could have provided. He will also be able to get away from that &%*# pager! Needless to say, he and Michelle are pretty excited! Wade & Michelle have also made the decision to adopt a little sister for Connor. They have a very professional agency helping them with an international adoption, and are pursuing a Russian baby. We all have our fingers cross for an early arrival! And Toby! He has been working in Moses Lake, WA. quite a bit lately, so we don’t get much of a chance to chat with him. He and Jocelyn are getting as excited as we are to get to Cabo in early May for a week of sunshine, cool tropical drinks, and some cribbage!

How fu)&*^g scary was this weekend?????? So glad Ash is doing better, for both your AND Amanda's sake. Oh, yeah, for Ashley too, LOL. C'mon, lets face it, when anything happens to our kids, it's the parents that are worse off! All those prayers were answered!
