FAMILY!

The Merriam-Webster web site defines friend as, “one attached to another by affection or esteem; a favored companion”. Sometimes we have friends as close as family, or closer. And the following story is exactly that - friends that Donna and I consider family. As couples we have traveled together for many years, and many locations. Maui, Kauai and the beautiful San Juan Islands all come to mind easily. Then the ‘C’ word comes along and our lives are impacted, and not always for the best. But in this case, our good friend has had such a positive outlook on life and an “I won’t let this get me down attitude”, that we now all have a better prognosis. The last several times Donna has visited SW Washington , they have spent time together, mostly doing what women do best I think. Shopping! Well, anyway, they went shopping in Portland , OR . and our good friend bought a new pair of red shoes. So recently when her recent CT scan results came back, this is what she had to say in an e-mail to Donna; and notice the wonderful humor about her new red shoes. “Doctor Will says I am cancer free - Yea! - for now. Stage 4 cancer has an 85% chance of returning at any time. I wish he would have told me just the free part and saved the statistics for next week. It kinda took the wind out of my sails. My red shoes were a hit everywhere I went. When I first put them on I could not remember them hurting so much. Walked around with them on for awhile and figured out I had them on the wrong feet! So glad all men around here, they never notice things like that. Fit fine after I switched them to the right feet. I wonder if I was nervous yesterday, ya think! Peace” So I asked her if I could mention her on our blog site and here is her response. “How bout if you don't use my name? That way you can add some interesting facts about me that are not true but would be great if they were. You could make something up really fun since it is about a woman in "red shoes". Now I wonder if she knows of my love affair with the Zalman King ‘Red Shoe Diaries’ films and music? And BTW – I have lots of ideas for something I could make up, but then again, this is supposed to be a ‘G’ rated blog site. Donna and I congratulate her on her ‘up-beat’ attitude, and being cancer free.

Great news! Tell her that I'm happy for her. She sounds like a fun lady. We need more like her.

Thanks Jan! I can't explain why your comments come up as anonymous. I know mine comes up on yours, but not our photo. I'll see if I can find out why. I can always check with my blog guru Cameo I guess. She knows all! SMILE!

Howdy family and friends! As suggested by one of our Facebook friends, we are gonna try the ‘blog thing’ again. If you visit our past bl...
