TEXAS LIVING!

ELECTION RESULTS! Well – the paper says Hillary took Texas yesterday. It is an interesting break-down on how Texas voted though. Obama took the Counties surrounding the major Cities like Houston, Austin and Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Clinton took rural Texas. Here in Collin County, it was Obama 2 to 1 over Hillary. SPORTS! How about those Texas Tech Red Raiders? Lose by 44 to A & M, come back and beat #5 Texas, then lose to Kansas by 58. Go figure! I’m still a fan and watch them most of the time. And how about those Dallas Mavericks? There still seems to be a controversy over the Jason Kidd trade in some circles. I like the trade! Time will tell. And then there’s the Portland Trail Blazers. How do you speck C-H-O-K-E in the Northwest? And on a positive note, Green Bay is still in mourning over the retirement of Brett Farve, a class act. DOUGHNUTS! Every cop’s favorite! Or so the saying goes. I used to love having coffee and a doughnut at the Dunkin’ Doughnuts in Hazel Dell, just north of Vancouver, WA. That store is long gone now and I’m not even sure there is a DD in the Vancouver/Portland area any more. When Wade was at West Point in the mid-90’s, and we visited the Highland Falls area, there was a DD on every corner in major NY Cities, much like the Starbucks situation in the Northwest! Well now Dunkin’ Doughnuts is coming to the Metro-plex. Yahoo! The Zale family, yep, those Zale's, the jewelry people, just opened a new DD in north Dallas, and planning 160 stores by 2015. 15 stores here this year, 20 in 2009, and 20 in 2010. Most grocery stores have been selling Dunkin’ Doughnuts coffee - and now doughnuts again. I think I might be heaven! TEXAS WEATHER! Just plain goofy is the best word to describe it! 80 degrees last week, 2” of snow on the ground Monday night here in Allen, and 70 forecast for today. And now, just maybe more snow on the forecast for Friday afternoon.
