TRAVEL

Hey y’all! I’m posting this update under travel, but heck, it could also be under cribbage or family! It has definitely been a ‘whirl-wind’ 5 days. I “Pricelined’ my airline ticket for this trip, with one stop, and that’s always a crap-shoot! But I got lucky with a Delta ticket. Flew the Delta connection, Skywest, to Salt Lake City and immediately connected to Portland. Today I fly back on Delta with a direct flight to DFW. YAHOO! It has been somewhat non-stop visiting friends and family. I was able to see past co-workers from both the County and Portland. Was able to visit with Bonnie Willers and Shelli Tompkins from the City, and Colleen McGary and John Curry from the County. Also had drinks with good friend Candace Hanson and then Friday evening hooked up Jim & Sue Pillette, Josh & Megan and Ron Steigman in the Harvest Days beer garden. Saturday morning was the cribbage tournament at Cribbage Hill, hosted by Gerry Adolfson & Margie Lehto. (see more cribbage in separate posting). Then it was lunch with my brother and sister Brad and Brenda, and of course Donna! KUDO’s to Brad who took “Top Muscle Car” with his ’71 Dart at the Harvest Days car show! Then Donna and I re-grouped before heading to Lance & Kim Benson’s for dinner and cribbage. Sunday was breakfast with Donna’s sister Karen and her husband Kenny, along with friends John & Marilyn Charlstrom, and their friend Kathy. Then a walk through Vancouver Farmer’s Market to buy fresh cut flowers. Then off to John Curry’s to see his and Terri's new home. BTW John – margaritas were excellent! We had a pleasant surprise that Bonnie was there and got another hour with her. Then it was off to dinner at Alan & Callie Teel’s, Jocelyn’s folks. Toby & Jocelyn were also there and we had fresh steamer clams. YUM! And of course, the most important! We stayed with good friends John & Lynda Idsinga a few nights before they headed out to Alaska. Donna and I are ‘house-sitting in Battle for them while they RV it to Alaska for seven weeks. Donna will be in Battle Ground until September 5th, and the plan is I will fly back ‘n forth several times. That way I can help watch Connor while Michelle has appointments. John & Lynda have a beautiful home on a large lot, beautifully landscaped. Now I’m packing getting ready for my return flight! SHOOT! Where did the time go?
