Tuesday we took a little 400 mile road trip. Wade & Michelle decided to give up Major the dog. I feel bad for Wade for two reasons, Major wasn’t the dog Captain was, and Wade really wanted Connor to grow up with a dog. But what with the new house and their traveling; it is expensive to put pets in the ‘Pet Hotel’. Been there done that! Anyway we drove to Seymour, Texas where we met Cindy, Michelle’s mom. Seymour is half way between here and Lubbock. Cindy took Major to friends who have a ranch, so I think Wade & Michelle felt good that Major would go to a good home and have lots of room to run. On the way to Seymour we passed through some small Texas ‘bergs’. We drove through Loving, Texas and Olney, home of the ‘One Armed Dove Hunting’ contest. Now what exactly does that mean? You have to shoot one armed? Or you can only enter if you have one arm? After we left Seymour we went south to Abilene and had lunch with John O’Connell, and his baby daughter Callie. We were disappointed we didn’t get to see Kayla, John’s wife as she was out of town for work. John was Wade’s roommate at West Point for two years and we’ve all kept in touch over the years. We’re all headed to the ARMY/Air Force game in Colorado Springs at the Air Force Academy in early November.
