TEXAS LIVING!

CHEAP TRAVEL – I read an interesting article in today’s Dallas Morning News, finding another way to travel, saving money, and making new friends! Does that sound too good to be true? The article features www.CouchSurfing.com. So far 345,558 people have registered as of last week, representing 223 countries, with an average age of 26. Some 900 new people are registering every day, with thousands registered who are over the age of 60. “Most hosts provide a couch to sleep on, a place to shower and a tour of their hometown. Some share meals and form friendships.” Just how cool is that? TEXAS FOOTBALL – Well I didn’t post any football news last week, ‘cause I was pretty disappointed in Texas Tech. This week-end, I’m even more disappointed in Tech. Can you spell C-H-O-K-E? America’s team, the Dallas Cowboys have a bye week, and are 6 and 1. And how about the Allen High School Eagles? They won a tough game last week and breezed past winless Richardson Friday night to go 8 and 0! They are still ranked 3rd in State behind Katy and South Lake Carroll. We head off to Colorado Springs next week-end to watch the ARMY/Air Force football game at the Air Force Academy. We have a group of family and friends this year representing Lubbock, TX, Albuquerque, NM, Ridgefield, WA, Minneapolis area of MN, and us North Texan’s, Wade’s family and Donna & I. AND THE WEATHER? – We’re having fall like weather with cooler nights, but gorgeous days in the mid-70’s. Local weathermen are predicting 80+ for Halloween. Gas is slowly rising again – paid $2.53 this week using our grocery card at Tom Thumb.
