TRAVEL

Last year in September on our way back to Texas from Washington State, we detoured through northern Wisconsin to spend a few days with Roxie Olson & Bob Gerber, our good friends from here in Allen. We missed the change of colors into fall, so this year Roxie sent us this photo, with this quote, “On our way home from dinner, we passed this bog where the cranberry harvest was taking place. Water is pumped in from the glacial lakes (like ours) and the ripe berries float to the top. They are knocked off the plants by men riding paddle bikes and then gathered into booms and floated to a conveyor. We live 1/3 mile from one of the largest bogs in WI and all sorting is done by hand. The final product is shipped to Ocean Spray and in turn sold at Central Market in Plano and eaten by you. Enjoy”. Thanks for the beautiful photo Rox! Donna and I have finalized some of upcoming travel plans. Donna leaves for Battle Ground next week for 5 days to visit friends and family, and then the first week-end in November, we have a group headed to Colorado Springs to watch the ARMY/Air Force football game. Our Lubbock extended family, friends Guy & Nina Hobbs from Albuquerque and Josh Behrens from Battle Ground will meet up with us and Wade & Michelle. The Military football games are always a blast with all their ‘tradition and Academy rivalry’. The game at the Air Force Academy is always spectacular with their fly-over! And then in early December we will spend a week on S. Padre Island. Michelle and Connor will go when we do, and Wade will arrive a few days later.
