TEXAS LIVING!

WOW! The results are in! Collin County voters passed this week’s three capital bond propositions; for roads, for parks/open space, and for a new juvenile facility. A whopping $328.9 million dollars! Now for you Southwest Washington readers, Collin County is about twice the population of Clark County. I’m sorry to say that I don’t think Clark County has enough vision-minded voters or elected officials to tackle such an enormous effort. But it didn’t exactly go perfect here either – the County Judge, an elected official who chairs the Board of Commissioners was out spoken on the proposed bonds, even maintaining a blog, calling the bond proposals “pork fat”. What is really surprising for this new transplant from SW Washington were the voter approval percentages: 69% yes for roads, 68% yes for parks & open space, and 65% yes for the new juvenile facility. And that amount of money folks doesn’t count the State propositions and the previous school elections.
