TRAVEL!

Two trips to talk about! First of all, I headed to SW Washington and Battle Ground to play in a cribbage tournament, and visit with family & friends. Oh yea! How could I forget! I also had Dr. appointments including the ever-popular annual physical. Dr. appointments went well – he once again reminded I need to lose about 30 pounds. Hell! I know that! But it’s been hard when we travel and eat out so often. Anyway – when I left on Saturday, December 1st I had a touch of the flu. I checked in at Cribbage Hill Suites (owned & operated by Gerry Adolfson and Margie Lehto) late that afternoon after flying to Portland via Kansas City. They have a beautiful home east of Battle Ground and hosted the crib tourney. My flu hung around until Monday afternoon, so I didn’t get to play in the crib tournament (tourney results posted earlier). I did get to see lots of friends: everyone at the crib tourney, Ron & Tricia Bergman, Jane Johnson, Lianne (Forney) Bannow, Mary Young, Jeri Saylor, Jo Berg, Shelli Tompkins, Kevin & Kari Schulz, Colleen McGary, Pat McDonnell, and Vicki Lowe. I also spent time with family: Mandy, Marc, Ashley & Kyle; Toby & Jocelyn; and extended family, Josh, Megan, & Peyton; Jamie, Steve & Camryn; Jamie, Kyle & Cooper, and Jim & Sue Pillette. And the treatment plant staff had me out for a BBQ lunch on Wednesday. That was nice seeing those friends, and having a wonderful lunch. Add in the Dr. appointments and the travel time to various coffee visits, lunches, and dinners, I was plain busy! But that’s a good thing! I left on Friday morning with a connection in Oakland back to Dallas. My plane to Oakland was delayed out of Reno due to weather, and I almost missed my connection! I made it, but my luggage did not! And to complicate it further, I had frozen venison sausage and pepperoni from my son Toby in the checked bag! And all my dirty clothes too! Southwest Airlines was great tho – and I had my missing bag delivered to the house at 1:30 a.m. Then it was off to South Padre Island for this whole week. And without clean underwear! YUK! Lucky for me I have a wonderful wife who washed for me when we arrived at our condo. Altho I probably could have gotten another week out of the underwear if I had wore them inside-out! More on the Padre Island visit under family posted above!
