TRAVEL!

Well! I guess we’ll add some more about our stay here on Padre Island! It was a little colder yesterday, so we stayed inside and played games, worked on photos, put a puzzle together with Connor, read and napped. A very tough life! Last night we met Michelle’s friend Kari for dinner at Dirty Al’s Bait & Tackle Shop. Without a doubt the very nest fried shrimp we have ever had, and huge portions. I had a shrimp & fish (flounder) combo for $10 and couldn’t eat it all. They had an interesting way of splitting the shrimp before frying – hope I can duplicate it when we get home. We still have 5 lbs. of jumbo size gulf shrimp in the freezer. Oh yea! Dirty Al was quite the ‘dirty old man’ with the girls apparently, hence the name of the joint. More like a tavern. His motto? It’s not how deep you fish; it’s how you wiggle your worm”! Michelle & Connor then went home with Kari. This morning we picked up Connor after breakfast so the girls could go do ‘girl’ things in Harlingen. We ate breakfast at Manuel’s in Port Isabel. Lots of Mexican breakfast choices. I had the breakfast burrito with chorizo, potatoes, cheese and salsa. It came in an 18” tortilla! HUGE, draped over the ends of a platter! And only $6.25! Brought half of it home for tomorrow morning. Michelle and Kari will pick Connor back up after lunch and then bring him back this evening for an hour or so, so they can go to Kari’s office Christmas party. Tomorrow morning we head to the airport around 9:30 – back to the real world and colder weather in North Texas! Guess that’s it!
