TRAVEL!

Another great ‘road trip’ is about ready to end! We only have today and tomorrow left to squeeze everything in. I love to get in the car and GO! And Donna is pretty content to sit in the passenger seat and let me drive. One year when Wade was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO., we left on a Friday at noon and picked up Donna’s brother and sister-in-law in The Dalles, Oregon and drove straight through. We spent Wade’s birthday with him and then drove back to Vancouver, Washington, arriving late Monday afternoon. We drove just under 3,000 miles and spent about 40 hours driving. All in about 75 hours! Donna and I are now in Fredericksburg, Texas, in the “Hill Country’, enjoying the German atmosphere of this very old German settlement. We are staying in one of the many, many Bed & Breakfast choices. We used a Texas tour guide and even ate where the book suggested. We didn’t think as highly of the Koffee Kup in Hico as the book did, but it was a good value. We stopped in Johnson City for the LBJ Museum and ate at a really old mill and/or feed store. We drove to Stonewall to see the Johnson Ranch and State Park, and then we were off to Luckenbach. What a fun place! Population 3! But we happened to stop by when there was a ‘jam session’ going on, so there were hundreds of visitors. It was mostly ‘bikers’ and ‘biker chicks’! YAHOO! . . . . and WOW! We looked at some very cool bikes, including several old pan heads. We drank a ‘long-neck’ beer, me a Lone Star and Donna a Bud Light, listened to the music, shopped some in the General Store, read about the history of the town, and just plain relaxed. Of course it’s easy to do when the weather is in the mid-70’s! Last night we had a wonderful German dinner, and I drank a German Pilsner. As Rachael Ray would say, “Yummo”! Well, it is 930 – I better go get Donna up so we can set off on today’s adventure!

Oh, please don't tell me you're a Rachael Ray fan! I cannot stand that annoying little freak of nature. NOBODY can be that perky.... unless they are a robot/Stepford Wife. Ugh.... Or maybe I'm just a Bitchy Wife....

Howdy family and friends! As suggested by one of our Facebook friends, we are gonna try the ‘blog thing’ again. If you visit our past bl...
