TEXAS LIVING!

Let’s see! What’s new in North Texas? For starters we had a wonderful visit with good friends Monte & Karen Brachmann from Camas, WA. They visit family here every year over Texas Spring Break, and we feel fortunate that they always take time to see us. We hooked up for dinner on Friday night and got caught up on SW Washington and North Texas news. And I thought I’d share our latest story about new living room furniture. And you have to ask yourself, why is good service sooooo damn hard? Ever since arriving here, we have wanted new furniture, and finally after two years, made the decision. Anyway Donna did, and again, I guess that’s why I’m still married after 37 years – I’ve learned to just go along with whatever Donna says! So we order a custom couch and recliner with a country flavor, but NO big Texas stars on the arm rests, from a local home store in Wylie. We are told it will be custom made in Mississippi and arrive in two weeks. We call after two weeks and are told it will be another two weeks. At four weeks we call when we haven’t heard anything – and guess what? The factory is no longer using the color we selected and no one ever thought to contact us. So we raise a little hell! We tell the store owner we would be interested in adding a 3rd piece, a big over-stuffed matching chair if he will make a deal. So he knocks $300 off the additional chair and we settle down some. Life is too short to be in a hurry. Right? Especially for something as unimportant as new furniture! The big day arrives! The sofa and the 3rd piece are delivered. They now tell us the recliner mechanism on the chair we ordered almost two months ago is now on back order and will be another two weeks! And guess what? The furniture that did arrive had the BIG Texas stars on the arm rests. CRAP! The delivery order even indicated there were to be no stars. Another phone call! We are now getting the 3rd piece free due to all the trouble we have had. Ok! Saves us another $300 plus dollars. On Friday our new recliner was delivered. Finally! . . . YAHOO! Guess what? It came in the wrong color! Heck! I think I will blame Donna for it all!
