Hola family & friends! We had another fabulous time visiting Cabo San Lucas. It was especially memorable to have our 13 year old granddaughter Ashley fly down with son Toby and significant other Jocelyn from Washington State. Our typical day was up early and hit the pool, reading and sometimes playing cribbage. My day actually started earlier than the others, sitting on the lanai having coffee and watching the fishing boats leave the marina. We usually ate lunch at the pool, and anxiously waited for 2:30 p.m. and the arrival of “2-fer-1” drinks! And yes, I even liked one of the foo-foo drinks, a Miami Vice, aka a strawberry pina colada. And Toby and I both decided that poppin’ a beer bottle in Cabo was waaaay better than in Washington or Texas! And speaking of the pool, the views from atop the Ridge at Playa Grande are awesome! Stand in the pool or lounge in a pool-side chair looking at the Pacific Ocean or the Cabo marina. We ate dinner out every night, and lucky for us, we had “leave-no-meat behind” Toby with us most nights to clean up the plates! Friends and shirt-tail relatives John & Marilyn Chalstrom from Vancouver suggested a couple of new restaurants. We loved the Casa Country wit the singing and dancing waiters, and of course our personal favorite, El Pollo De Oro (The Golden Chicken). Prices haven’t gone up in three years, $5 for carne asada, or $8.50 for the combination roasted chicken and ribs. The high-light for Toby was his fishing trip on Friday when he caught a 55 lb. Dorado and 7’ marlin. He shipped some home, gave some to the boat crew, and we ate a wonderful dinner of fresh Dorado that night, fixed three ways – in a cilantro cream sauce, in garlic, and a light corn flake crust. Yummy! We didn’t shop much this trip, but Donna did negotiate for two new decorative plates for $20 for both. And special thanks to President Bush for direct depositing my $1200 economic stimulus check in our account the day before we left. Unfortunately we probably helped Mexico’s economy more than our own last week. How much fun did we have? Three times over – we had fun all week, we’ll remember the fun again when the American Express card statement arrives; and then heck, and we’ll re-live the fun again when we write the check for payment! And now back to reality!
We haven't posted anything for around 6+ years! It's time to get back to it! We will be posting a new label about North Texas Smoke & Arizona Livin' - be sure and read 'em if you like to eat or keep up with our smoking news for North Texas Smoke & misc. recipes!

Love the pictures. It looks nice and warm there...unlike the northeast.
I LOVED the pics you emailed!!!! So your place is next to the Marina? I didn't know that. How cool. I'm aching to go back. Liked the pics of the Tecate beer and I finally tried a Miami Vice last time we were in Cabo and it KICKS ASS!!!!
