TEXAS LIVING!

Ok! Ok! . . . I give. Several of you have e-mailed me about no recent updates on the Cribbage Flat Southwest blog site. I will be the first to admit that keeping up with it has been more challenging than I thought. Thanks to all for the encouragement to post news by “harassing me to no end”! Let’s start by responding to Cameo’s comments and request about the previous posting of the new Border’s Book Store in Allen. I’ll try and get photos of this new concept store Cameo, but will start with all the new interactive features that are now offered. A quote from the local newspaper says, “A new Digital Center offers customers an opportunity to mix and make custom CD’s, download books and music, publish books, explore family histories or create photo books”. A very KEWL store! And what’s coming up this month? The Texas State Fair of course, and the all new ‘fair food’ choices. According to the Dallas Morning News, “This year’s offerings will include: Fried Banana Split or Texas Fried Jelly Belly’s or Fire & Ice, a deep-fried pineapple ring. Or something chocolate, like the Fried Chocolate Truffles or Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Waffle Balls or Deep Fried S’mores. Then again, it could be something savory, like Chicken Fried Bacon or Fernie’s All-American Fried Grilled Cheese Sandwich”. The item getting the most interest is the Fire & Ice, the deep-fried pineapple ring. The “fire” is topped with banana flavored whipped cream that’s been frozen in liquid nitrogen – the “ice”. The concoction is then covered with syrupy strawberries and served in a waffle cone. But we won’t be going to the Fair just to eat. We also love the animal barns, exhibit halls and entertainment. And of course, Dickie’s Clothing has given Big Tex a “make-over” this year! And finally, this goofy weather and those over-paid weather forecasters, the only job on the planet where you can screw it up every day, and not lose your job! They are “all-over the place” with their predictions on what happens to North Texas as hurricane Gustav comes through later this week. Wind, no wind. Buckets of rain, some rain. Doesn’t make any difference to me, I have no control over it. We’ll just take whatever we get!

Oh, I'm always honored when you mention me in your blog :)

Some of that food sounds so disgusting and yet some of it sounds blissful. Will you at least take pictures of THAT? LOL. I'm expecting a big long post WITH pictures after you go!

Bruce, don't you know that all weathermen and presidential candidates go to the same colleges? Weathermen tell us what to look for in the coming days and politicians tell us what they're going to do in the next four years. Hmmm, do you see the comparison? It rarely happens.

Howdy family and friends! As suggested by one of our Facebook friends, we are gonna try the ‘blog thing’ again. If you visit our past bl...
