TEXAS LIVING!

HOME REPAIR and WEATHER - Life in North Texas is still everything we imagined. But weather this summer is sure a far cry from last year’s summer weather! Temps this year have been in the comfortable 90’s, with just a couple of triple digit days so far. And it doesn’t look like any 100+ degree days in our near future. Last year we had 46 days of triple digit days and we were close to a record of consecutive triple digit days. We had an irrigation leak in the yard that has been getting worse. We’ve had the irrigation turned off so that when the sprinkler guy got here, he could turn the water back on and find the leak easier. Turns out we had a valve and a joint leaking. We’ve been able to keep the lawns green with hand watering every morning, and now my life just got a whole lot easier! With Donna in Washington, I’ve been watering all the pots every morning too! They ‘bake’ in the sun! The best looking flowers are the ones in the old toilet out back. Go figure! CELL PHONES - This morning I went to the local Chevrolet dealer to have the oil changed in the Tahoe. I was sitting in the service department waiting room with five other customers. Four were on their cell phones and the one behind me was so darn loud, I was about to say something to him when the lady to my left told him to turn it down a notch, “she couldn’t hear her husband”. Out of the four one-sided conversations, I now know more about pool refinishing, loan closing, Dallas County taxes, and gall bladder surgery - than I really need to know. To me it seems pretty basic that when you are in public you should put your phone on silent/vibrate and then take your calls outside! DUH! Not really Texas living, common courtesy should apply anywhere by all of us! SPORTS – And how about those Texas Rangers? 30 runs in one game and 39 total runs scored in their double-header. All kinds of modern day records were set with that game.
