This could be family too! But I'll post it as travel. WOW! I’ve been busy with mid-west family! It all started when my dad’s youngest sister in Greene, Iowa wanted me to have my dad’s high chair, circa 1931. But shoot! How would I get it from Greene to Allen, Texas? Well, with Donna in Washington, I decided a short road trip to the Omaha area was in order. I offered to drive to my dad’s oldest sister’s home, aunt Cleo, in Plattsmouth, and asked if any of the mid-west family members was interested in flying down to Texas and riding back to Nebraska with me. I was hoping Bev & Ron would make the 5 hour drive from Greene to Plattsmouth, bring the high chair, and then ride back to Texas with me. And it worked perfectly! You gotta love it when a plan comes together! My cousin’s daughter Melissa flew down here on August 11th and we caught lots of the tourist things. We then left on Tuesday the 14th and drove to Plattsmouth via Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa and then in to aunt Cleo’s. Ron & Bev were there and we went and visited Melissa and Glen’s new house. The next morning I had breakfast with my good friend Barney Cosner, the Nebraska State Fair Executive Director and then Bev, Ron and I were off after lunch for the Lone Star State. We drove through Oklahoma and visited the Oklahoma City Memorial and arrived back in Allen late Friday afternoon. We also did lots of touristy things and they flew back to Omaha late Tuesday afternoon. Between Melissa’s visit and the Schuknecht’s, we visited the Historic Ft. Worth Stockyards, Southfork Ranch, McKinney 3rd Monday Trade Days, the Kennedy 6th Floor Museum, the Holocaust Museum, Dallas Farmer’s Market, and so much more. Good eating and lots of visits with Wade, Michelle and Connor. Some visits were dinners at their house, and Connor did a ‘sleep-over’ with me, Bev & Ron. KUDO’s to Melissa for putting up with Wade & I and eating sushi! Missy was a real trooper, trying eel, yellow tail and a few other choices. As Mandy stated on the family web site, “Missy you rule”!
