TEXAS LIVING!

FOOTBALL - September already! What does that mean in Texas? Football of course! High school and college football rule the discussions in every supermarket, barber shop, playground and bar. And there maybe is just a little ‘talk’ about those Cowboys! Our local high school Allen, has won their first two games already. They started out ranked #8 and last week they played #7 Garland. They won with an upset . . . score 21 – 15. Now rated #7, last night Allen played favorite and un-ranked Rockwall, and beat them 35 – 27. It was a home game where attendance is around 14,000. YEP! I said fourteen thousand! But anyone who has ever read the book Friday Night Lights, or seen the movie, or watched last year’s new TV series, will certainly understand how important football is in Texas! Our own local South Lake Carroll H.S. team won their 49th game in a row last night, having won three straight State Championships, and are now ranked #1 in the Country in the current USA poll. And then we have the college teams! Naturally we’re Texas Tech fans with our new family connection to Lubbock with our favorite daughter-in-law and her family. So many game choices on satellite TV, it boggles the mind! Even my pea-brain! AIRPORT HAND DRYERS - Dison, who makes the awesome Dison Cyclone house vacuum (we love ours BTW!), is now test marketing their new hand dryer for public rest rooms. Several of the DFW airport terminals are participating in the test program. And I gotta tell you, they are awesome! Watch for one in your area soon! WEATHER – our weather is cooling some. Day-time temps are still in the low and mid-90’s but nights have cooled off. Some rain and more cooling predicted for this next week. This year we have only had 5 days over 100 degrees. Pretty amazing compared to last year! HOME AGAIN – Donna says she is happy to be back in Texas! I think she missed Connor waaay more than me! She did comment that the house looked good! I guess my last minute house dusting, sink cleaning and vacuuming paid off! I had also completed a few outdoor projects and managed to keep her flowers alive and fertilized. It never hurts to earn a few “brownie points” for the future!
