TEXAS LIVING!

Last night we once again took in one of the small Opry halls in the area to listen to local entertainment. We have always been included in the large entourage that follows Marty Cobern, driving to Farmersville, Blue Ridge, and last night to Forney, Texas. The group last night was around 30, all family & friends of Marty’s folks, Gerry & Mickey, who live behind us. Marty plays guitar, piano and mandolin and is well-known for his acoustic versions of “Elizabeth” and “Danny Boy”. Last night at the Forney Opry was 50’s Night, and Marty did an awesome job with his solos, and his role in several tunes for the hit show Grease. Prior to the show, 25 of us met for dinner at the Smokehouse in Forney. I had the baked pork loin with mashed potatoes and corn, with salad bar, all for the whopping price of $6.99. At the Opry we had dessert, with Donna and me sharing home-made apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream for $3. We had an awesome dinner, fantastic show, and incredible dessert, all for less than $50. What a deal! And the bonus? We went with friends!

Would love to hear the music you are speaking of. Sounds like Great Fun!! Your food sounds AWESOME and you can't beat the price. The lobster in New England was mmmmm good but the prices were higher than yours. As always enjoy your postings AND the pictures. This is from your Favorite Aunt in Nebraska. Love ya
