Well! I kinda feel bad – sorta! . . . . NOT! Here we are on South Padre Island at the southern tip of Texas. We are in a 2-bedroom, 2-bath condo over-looking the Gulf of Mexico, enjoying 80+ degree weather. And my family in the mid-west and the northwest are having their typical winter weather, with snow and cold nights. And actually, we are missing rain and mid-30’s weather at home in Allen. Too bad! We are having some cooler weather today, but should warm back up before we leave on Saturday. Grandson Connor and daughter-in-law Michelle are with us for the week. We have spent time on the beach, in the hot tub in the evenings, and we have driven to Brownsville several times. We spent several hours at the zoo, and what a nice zoo it is. There was hardly anyone there! Connor especially liked the zebras and the monkeys! And grandpa? I liked the lions and the Komodo Dragons. We took about 140 digital photos and will post them in a Kodak album if anyone wants to see lots of zoo animals. We are using the folder as a screen saver so Connor watches them endlessly. We also visited the Brownsville Mall and Connor rode the carousel with grandma and mom. We have also visited and had dinner a couple of times with Michelle’s good friend Kari and her husband Rob. They are from the Lubbock area and now live in Port Isabel, just across the causeway from Padre. We have certainly enjoyed the gulf shrimp and the rest of the fresh seafood choices. One of the places we ate was Pirate’s Landing. Connor loves pirates and the restaurant had lots of photo opportunities, as shown above. Wade was originally coming down too during mid-week, but work kept him in North Texas! Michelle and Connor leave today to spend a few days with Kari before we leave. We will pick them up Saturday morning on our way to the airport in Harlingen, about 40 miles away.
We haven't posted anything for around 6+ years! It's time to get back to it! We will be posting a new label about North Texas Smoke & Arizona Livin' - be sure and read 'em if you like to eat or keep up with our smoking news for North Texas Smoke & misc. recipes!

Brownsville Mall? In Brownsville TX? That's where my dad grew up! My parents are planning a trip back there next month. Sounds like you had a fantastic time! Wish I could have gone.
I am a thinkin' Brownsville has really grown up lately Cameo. Lots of new commercial construction! The zoo was great!
