My new job is going great! I love the hours and the people I work with, and around! Our new store just opened last week on the 29th, and we’re getting rave reviews from our guests. Market Street is not your typical grocery store – that’s for sure. Living Well is a major theme to the store and the colored shelving clearly differentiates between the regular grocery items and Living Well items. And the seafood, the deli/restaurant, the sushi bar, the PEET’s coffee bar, and produce validate the company motto for Market Street shopping, “Where everyday meets Gourmet”. And the company? When I first researched United Supermarkets and decided I wanted to pursue employment with them, I read on the web site that the CEO, Dan Sanders, had written a customer service book titled, “Built to Serve”. I ordered the book and read it in the first two days I had it. In the book, the author talks about company philosophy and culture, and the need to take care of the team members. He mentioned how previously they had each store director in all 47 stores go around personally and give every employee a hundred bill! Guess what happened this past Friday? Yep! You guessed right. Jason, our new store director came up and asked me to sign behind my name, and handed me a card. In it was a crisp new hundred dollar bill! WOW! It blew me away. The card read, “Dear team member: Our company continues to be blessed, and we want you to share in those blessings. We have just completed the most successful year in the history of our company, and we know that it would not have been possible without the hard work and commitment of our 9,000-plus team members. On behalf of United Supermarkets, LLC, please accept this tax-free $100 bill with our gratitude. Thank you again for your hard work and dedication to our mission and vision, and for making a Positive Impact on our company.” Dan J. Sanders, CEO. Do the math readers, they gave out almost a million dollars! And happy employees are productive employees. Thank you United Supermarkets! The photos shown here are from the grand opening and ribbon cutting on the 29th. The one photo is good friend Jan Goble with Troy Aikman, local retired Dallas Cowboys quarterback who attended the festivities.
