TEXAS LIVING!

(7) (8) Like most bloggers, I follow several different sites. Some are 'true' blogs, with long narratives about topics of choice, some interesting, and some not so interesting. You can go to the web and find any topic you are interested in. The photos above are from blogs that I follow consistently. Some are more travel in nature, and some are more family oriented. Photo #1 is the desert in Namibia, South Africa. This photo is from the travel blog of Maurice Classen. Maurice is the son of the dentist that Donna worked for for 28 years in Battle Ground. He and a buddy are spending their vacation traveling thousands of miles from Joannasburg to Nairobi. Photo #2 is a photo of knitted hats by a group from the Allen Senior Center. The photo is from Jan Goble's family blog, and Jan is one of the founding members of this knitting club supplying hats for cancer patients here in N. Texas. I wanted to post a photo of Jan's granddaughter Dallas, but my favorite wasn't available. Photos 3 and 4 are from Northern Wisconsin at the summer home of Roxie Olsen on the shore of Lac Courte Oreilles - Roxie is a good friend here in Allen. These two photos were taken from Roxie's daughter Suzy's family blog. Shown here is Roxie and Suzy in the first photo . . . . . and the photo of the red chairs? If you sit in one of these chairs, you have an incredible view overlooking the lake. I know because Donna and I had that view in September '06 when we visited Roxie's lakeside home. I also have a beautiful sunrise photo from the dock. Photo #5 and 6 is friend Shauna McCallan from Allen currently residing in Germany. Photo #5 is Shauna 'hamming-it-up'. Shauna's dad works for Nokia and is on a year-long work assignment in Germany. The other photo of Shauna is their family visit to the Rothenburg Gardens in Rothenburg, Germany. We met Shauna here in Allen in April and have enjoying being e-mail pals and following each other's sites. Shauna has wonderful photos from around Germany and Austria. Photo #7 is from the travel blog of friends Al & Yevette of Southern California. We first met Al & Yevette in La Paz on the eastern coast of the Baja on the Sea of Cortez in May '07. We were both staying at the same hotel and headed to the airport about the same time, us in our rental car, and Al & Yevette on the bus. We offered them a ride to the airport and became friends. Al & Yevette were in Dallas last year and we hooked up for dinner. They were and still are sailing around the Baja, coming back to the U.S. a couple of times each year. And photo #8 is Valentina! The daughter of my daughter's "bestest" friend Cameo in Vancouver, WA. Cameo and her husband adopted Valentina from Guatemala recently. Ain't she just gorgeous? Cameo is probably more the 'true' blogger than I am. I love reading about family happenings and travel experiences of others.
