A North Texas update! . . . . Let’s start with congratulations to the City of Allen! Allen has just been named one of the 10 safest cities in the nation, according to a rankings study, published by CQ Press, a unit of Congressional Quarterly and based on the FBI’s September 15th statistics report. Allen was ranked ninth out of 397 communities with a population of at least 75,000. Rankings are based on per capita rates for homicides, robbery, rapes, burglaries, aggravated assault, and motor vehicle theft. Allen Police Chief Bill Rushing attributes the ranking to the family values present in the community! Just how cool is that? Well! Donna and I finally decided to give up on our purchase of a SmartCar. It has now been 15 months since we originally plopped down our deposit. We kept getting e-mails saying we were getting closer to our production date, but heck, there are other things we can do with our hard-earned cash. Right? So now we are looking forward to getting a check in the mail for Christmas shopping! Weather is up and down temperature wise, but not much rain. We love the blue sky and sunshine, but we also really need the rain. What a difference between living here and in Clark County Washington. In Clark County we couldn’t wait for warm weather and sunshine. And here? We look forward to the rain! Gas continues to drop every day. We have now seen it below $1.50 and last night’s TV was reporting a gas war locally, as cheap as $1.29. Now that’s what I’m talking about!
