FAMILY!

WOW! Ten years! Our oldest son Wade attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point from 1995 – 1998, and it is hard to believe Wade graduated from West Point 10 years ago already. He and wife Michelle are headed back to West Point for his 10 year reunion in October. We have such fond memories of Wade at West Point and our numerous visits. The ‘pomp and circumstance’, the traditions, and all that comes with it! We went to a homecoming football game one year; we spent Plebe week during his 1st year in 1995 learning more about West Point; and we visited many other times representing the West Point Parent’s Club of Oregon and SW Washington. And of course by far the best and most memorable was his graduation in late May of ’98. I was looking back through photo albums and especially enjoyed the memories of all the family & friends that joined us in May of ’98 for Wade’s graduation, including Donna’s mother Dorothy and husband Lynn; our daughter and son-in-law Amanda and Marc; our other son Toby; Wade’s best friends Josh and Judd, and Judd’s now wife Kristie; my sister Brenda and my niece Kayce’; and Donna’s brother Ben and his wife Diane. That same year we lost Donna’s mom unexpectedly not long after our graduation trip. Donna and I were also lucky enough to follow Wade to different Army posts during his 5 year Army commitment after his graduation. And now here in North Texas there is some discussion going on about bringing the oldest college rivalry in football to this area. I’m talking about the ARMY/Navy football game. The Academies are now accepting bids to host the annual event. Fair Park, home of the Texas State Fair has apparently dropped out, but the new Cowboy stadium is very interested. And now maybe the Alamo Dome in San Antonio too! Would that be cool or what? Donna and I were blessed to watch two ARMY/Navy football games in Philadelphia during his tenure at West Point. Photos shown here are some of my favorites from graduation week.

OH.MY.GOSH. What the hell was Amanda doing with her hair?! And why didn't I stop her or tell her something? I'm ashamed of myself. I call myself her BESTEST best friend and yet I let her do that to herself. Then again, she didn't stop me from my many follicle foibles. Draw? What's the weather like for you guys right now? It can't be any hotter than it is here! Of course this makes 5 days this year that it's been 100+. Maybe six, woohoo! I'm sure next week it will be 60's and rain. Doncha miss the PacNW weather?

So, i'm doing my routine check of your blog and show the picture of Wade and me to my wonderful wife. Her response: "Oh, you two look like such nice all-american boys, too bad you're both such little turds."
