Texas Football

TEXAS FOOTBALL! I am so far behind on making comments about Texas football, I will just mention this past week-end. Congratulations TTU! “Wreck ‘em Tech” did a number on Oklahoma, 41 – 13. Where oh where will TTU go for their bowl game? Still gotta get by Baylor in Cowboy Stadium next week-end. And speaking of the new Cowboy Stadium, OMG – what an incredible venue. Last night Shawn McDonnell, Kurt Hanson and I went to the stadium with 40,000+ other fans to watch Allen High School play South Lake Carroll, both teams 10 – 1. It was the second round of the State playoffs, and oh yea, Allen was also the ’08 State champs. Allen lost the game in the 2nd OT, failing a convert a 2 pointer to win the game. What a finish! The 650+ member Allen HS band was on the field at half-time, showing off their playing and marching skills. But it was the stadium – what a magnificent building. And what did we pay? . . . . $10 admission and $10 for parking. Waaay better than the ridiculous fees to see the Cowboys! As for other Texas football, ARMY pulled out a win in the last two minutes at North Texas with son Wade and his Army buddies doing a little tail-gating and whooping it up in the stands. And UT? Well, what can you say - how do spell WEAK schedule? And in closing, how about the Civil War coming up in the Pac 10? I think I will cheer for the Beavers and make my Northwest family happy with me. The winner between Oregon State and Oregon goes to the Rose Bowl!
